Élan Byrd is a Los Angeles-based interior designer known for interiors that are joyful, saturated, and genuinely personal — rooms that feel inhabited and chosen rather than assembled. Her collection for Lulu and Georgia translates that sensibility into rugs, textiles, and home accents: bold colorways, confident pattern, and materials selected for the way they look and feel in a real room. Objects designed by someone who takes decoration seriously and uses it as a form of self-expression.
What does Élan Byrd design for Lulu and Georgia?
The Élan Byrd collection includes area rugs in wool and flat-weave constructions, throw pillows and textile accents, and select home décor objects. The collection is characterized by saturated color, geometric and organic pattern, and a palette that draws from global textile traditions while remaining contemporary. Many pieces are available in multiple colorways, and several are designed to coordinate across the collection for a layered interior approach.
What interior styles do Élan Byrd pieces work with?
The collection is designed for rooms that embrace color and pattern with confidence — maximalist, eclectic, and globally influenced interiors where a bold rug or vibrant pillow is the starting point for the room rather than its final accent. The pieces work well in rooms that mix vintage and contemporary, or that layer textiles from multiple traditions. For a more restrained interior, a single Élan Byrd pillow or small accent piece introduces personality without requiring full commitment.
How do I incorporate a bold patterned rug into an existing room?
Start with the rug as the foundation and build the room's color palette from it: pull one or two colors from the rug into pillows, throws, or a painted wall. Keep larger furniture pieces in neutral tones — natural linen, warm white, or deep charcoal — so the rug can carry the visual complexity without competition. A bold rug works best when it is the clear focal point of the room rather than one among many competing patterns.
